Start your day among rustic fruit orchards and country gardens of Babylonstoren Estate, where heady, herby smells are carried on the breeze and plump fruits hang ripe on trees. Then it’s off down country laneways lined with leafy vineyards to the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountains and Marianne Estate. Spend the day sampling delicious wine before stopping the night in the vibrant town of Stellenbosch.
Leave early on day 2 for an extraordinary day in a private game reserve home to an abundance of wildlife including four of the Big Five, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest. Spot some of Africa’s wild animals from the back of an open-top 4×4 vehicle and enjoy an up close and personal encounter with nature on a short tranquil bush walking safari. Hop off the safari vehicle, following your game ranger as you track wildlife. A short 1 hour drive to the next stop to end your day in Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world.
After breakfast on day 3, jump straight back into the thick of the Klein Karoo bush to find even more wildlife as you set out on another 4×4 safari. This includes the chance to walk with three orphaned elephants in their natural habitat on an optional Elephant Bush Walk. End the day with a drive back to Cape Town along Route 62, the longest wine route in the world.
